Clipper Teas took a 44% share of all organic teas sold in the UK

Organic foods conglomerate Ecotone has hit a €700m (£604m) turnover milestone, thanks to strong consumer appetite for natural ingredients.

Gaining 5% in group sales to take €708m over six European markets, the company did particularly well in the UK, where its brands Clipper Teas and Kallø outperformed their respective markets.

Increased appetite for organic and ethically sourced teas boosted Clipper Teas’ revenues, as the world’s largest Fairtrade tea brand grew till sales 6.6% to beat the total tea market, and took a 44% share of all organic teas sold in the UK, according to Circana and Worldpanel data for the 52 weeks to 28 December 2025.

Kallø, which makes vegetable-based snacks and organic stocks, grew sales 8% to just over £40m.

Brand sales were largely (70%) from its better-for-you snack range, including rice, oat and lentil cakes, though Ecotone said it was the “only major brand growing household penetration and delivering value growth” for its stocks range. In 2025 Kallø also brought a range of readymade broths to market to take advantage of new demand for premium ready-to-use broths.

“Consumers are becoming increasingly conscious of how food impacts their health, from concerns around ultra-processed foods to pesticide residues,” said Ecotone UK CEO Bryan Martins.

“This is driving a reassessment of everyday food choices. For brands like ours, where organic and natural ingredients are fundamental rather than reactive, this shift is translating into sustained growth.”

Four-fifths (80%) of Ecotone’s European portfolio is made up of organic products, and 97% of its products are vegetarian.

“We’re not responding to a passing trend. Our strong performance reflects long-held values and continued investment in innovation that makes organic and plant-based food both accessible and appealing,” Martins added.

Lyon-headquartered Ecotone is owned by by French private equity firm PAI Partners and employs 1,400 staff across Europe, including more than 200 in the UK.
