The Dorset family-run business has been working with Co-op Wholesale, formerly known as Nisa, for 35 years

Independent supermarket Dike & Son has reaffirmed its long-standing relationship with Co-op Wholesale by signing a new five-year supply agreement.

The Dorset family-run business, which was established in 1851, has been working with Co-op Wholesale, formerly known as Nisa, for 35 years.

It moved to its current site, based in Stalbridge, in 2007 and had continued to innovate, expand and invest, it said. It is now 23,000 sq ft and features a co-branded fascia with Nisa Extra.

Recent investments have included a complete overhaul of refrigeration to reduce energy consumption and improve sustainability. It also plans to enhance its electric vehicle charging bays and introduce electronic shelf labels to further improve efficiency, availability and margin control, it added.

Dike & Son said its renewed partnership with Co-op Wholesale would enable it to continue accessing Co-op own label and a wide product range via central distribution. This was complemented by a “strong local sourcing model”, with an extensive range of direct-to-store and regional suppliers showcased in store, it added.

“We’re delighted to extend our relationship with Co-op Wholesale,” said Dike & Son MD Andy Dike. “We’ve worked together for many years, and this new long-term agreement reflects our shared commitment to quality, service, and community. With ongoing investments in technology and sustainability, we’re excited about what the next five years will bring for our business and our customers.”

Co-op Wholesale partnerships & sales director Paul Webster added: “Dike & Son is a shining example of independent retail at its best – combining tradition with innovation, and always putting their community first.

“We’re proud to continue supporting them as they grow, evolve and serve their customers with excellence. This new agreement cements our shared ambition for the future.”
