Faye Atkins is now head of trading for bakery and impulse at M&S

Marks & Spencer has appointed former Morrisonseggs & dairy category director Faye Atkins as its new head of trading for bakery and impulse.

Atkins had been at Morrisons since 2019, starting as a buying manager and then rising through head of trading and category director roles including in bakery and cakes. She became eggs & dairy category director in March.

She has been replaced at Morrisons by former Asda buyer Kelly-ann McQueen, as reported by The Grocer last week

Posting about her role change on LinkedIn, Aktins said she had “learnt so much” at Morrisins and “been fortunate enough to work for some amazing people, past and present”.

She added: “And to all my fantastic suppliers – no doubt I’ll be seeing many of you soon.”

She followed up with a post saying: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as head of trading – bakery & impulse at Marks and Spencer.”

It is the latest in a string of recent senior appointments at M&S as it ‘reshapes for growth’ in its transformation strategy. They have included Anna Cook joining from Sky to be M&S’s new customer director, and Andrew Hicks joining from Woolworths Group in Australia to be its new food marketing director.

New Worldpanel data this morning showed M&S’s grocery sales were up 8.8% year on year in the 12 weeks to 2 November, the fastest they have grown since June. M&S was the second fastest-growing bricks & mortar grocer in the latest 12-week period after Lidl, whose sales were up 10.8% year on year.
