What was your first-ever job? Working for my dad during the summer holidays at his haulage business in Herefordshire.

What was your worst-ever job interview? Mixing up what I thought was a friendly chat to become a fashion producer on a big TV show with a full-on interview, which I obviously hadn’t prepared for. I got the job but it was very hairy at times.

What was the first music single you bought? Vanilla Ice: Ice Ice Baby

How do you describe your jobs to your friends? A passionate love affair with dips. With Claire (my business partner), revolutionising the dip market with a premium British brand, creating new, exciting and unique flavours.

What is the most rewarding part of your job? There are so many, but it has to be a customer’s positive reaction to our dips, be it in a store or at a farmers’ market.

What is the least rewarding part? I don’t really look at it like that. There are always going to be ups, downs, fun jobs and not so fun.

What is your motto in life? ‘Do less to do more.’

If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? A five-minute trolley dash at Selfridges twice a year … kind of similar to Dale Winton’s Supermarket Sweep.

What’s your favourite movie and why? Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio (I’m a fan). Amazing vision of modern day mixed with Shakespeare dialogue, and great music too.

What has been the most embarrassing moment in your life? There have been far too many!

Which celebrity would you pick to join your staff? Dawn French in her role as the Vicar of Dibley. Quintessentially British, loves good food and such good fun.

If you could change one thing in grocery, what would it be? That British produce would always seasonably be a priority on the shelves. It so sad to see apples from the other side of the world on the shelves in September.

What luxury would you have on your desert island? An emperor-sized Hypnos bed with the best quality pillows and bed linen.

What animal best reflects your personality? A dog. A working springer spaniel. Loyal, eager, a bit loopy, has a good nose and loves being outdoors.
