What was your first job? I left school committed to forging a career in professional football, and my first job was as a ‘tea-boy’ for Steve Coppell, then manager of Reading FC.
What’s been your worst job interview? Fortunately I count the above as the only ‘job’ I have had to do – everything else I have done has been something I’m passionate about and really can’t call a job!
What was the first music single you bought? Now That’s What I Call Music 64 (2006). Some great tracks were on this, from Nelly Furtado to Snow Patrol. Now I’m more used to listening to the theme tune of Paw Patrol, how times change!
How do you describe your job to your mates? This is a complex one as my mates know me as both a footballer and an entrepreneur. They just know I love to work hard.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Bringing happiness to others.
What is the least rewarding part? When things go wrong. Unfortunately everything cannot be perfect all of the time.
What is your motto in life? The journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step.
If you were allowed one dream perk, what would it be? Team meetings in person!
Do you have any phobias? Snakes.
If you could change one thing in grocery, what would it be? Consumers are expecting a more tailored and immersive experience when shopping. If there was a way for brands and retailers to work closely together focusing solely on the consumer experience, I believe it would create an enriched feeling for people in-store.
What luxury would you have on a desert island? Ocado, hoping they’ll sort the logistics in order to deliver!
What animal reflects your personality? I’d probably say a wolf, because I have learnt first-hand the importance of a team.
What has been the most embarrassing moment of your life? Probably missing a netball shot in front of my daughter’s school assembly. Apparently sports skills are non-transferable.
What would your death row meal be? Homemade tuna and sweetcorn toastie, because that was the first thing I could make as a kid and don’t have it as often any more.
