Sheldon’s supplies a range of bread rolls to Aldi stores across the UK

Aldi bakery volumes have enabled a Manchester supplier to invest in a new factory.

Family-owned bakery Sheldon’s said it had more than doubled its volume of supplies to Aldi over the past decade, allowing it to expand. The new factory is expected to be operational by early 2028 and will “provide additional capacity to support future growth”, according to the company.

The 75-year-old business supplies a range of bread rolls to Aldi stores across the UK, having worked with the discounter for 15 years.

Sheldon’s-branded rolls, baps and muffins are also listed by other supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s, Asda and Ocado.

Aldi introduced in-store bakeries in London in 2019 and began rolling them out more widely in 2024

“We’re incredibly proud to have supplied Aldi for more than 15 years,” said Sheldon’s director Sarah Sheldon.

“The partnership has helped us continue investing in our people, products and operations while remaining true to our family business values. As we look ahead to the next chapter of growth, we’re excited to continue building on that success together.”

Aldi UK chief commercial officer Julie Ashfield said: “Sheldon’s is a fantastic example of the family-owned British businesses we are always so proud to work with.

“From its roots in Manchester to its plans for future expansion, the business has gone from strength to strength. We’re proud to support that journey and bring its products to Aldi customers across the country.”
