Challenger brand Dash Water has made its first-ever profit in its core UK business, after sales of the flavoured sparkling drinks soared 42% in its home market.
Fresh accounts filed to Companies House showed the business registered a £152k in profit for its core UK business, in what co-founder Alex Wright called a “landmark year” for Dash.
Marking the company’s furthest step yet towards financial sustainability, 2025 saw Dash ramp up advertising across TV, out-of-home and radio and win a 42% distribution gain in UK stores – resulting in a 59% boost to grocery sales as consumers snapped up the clean-label fruity drinks.
Group revenues were up 30.4% to £22.5m, with £21.7m coming from the UK in the year to 31 December 2025. Profitability improved significantly at the group level, as Dash slashed its operating losses from £2.5m to £535k. Pre-tax losses were also down 80.8% to £449k.
“Delivering our first-ever annual profit in our core UK business is a huge milestone, but what’s even more exciting is what sits behind those numbers,” Wright told The Grocer.
Dash considerably improved its cash performance in the year, with net operating cash outflow reducing from £1m in 2024 to just £41k. Its total cash position at year end was broadly flat at £4.2m after falling by £800k in the prior year, putting the company on a more sustainable footing.
“More people than ever are choosing Dash because they don’t want to compromise on taste or ingredients, and that’s been reflected in everything we’ve achieved,” Wright added.
He said the brand’s vigorous marketing strategy had been instrumental to growth over the past year, resulting in record sales, stronger retail partnerships and sustained profitable growth.
Dash’s only weak spot for growth came as it made a strategic retreat in the Asia Pacific market to prioritise faster-growing and more profitable opportunities in continental Europe. Sales in the region fell from £2.3m to £1.1m as a result, but the move also contributed to a “significant improvement” in group profitability.
And since the end of 2025, the brand has continued to ramp up overall growth. Sales so far in 2026 are now up 51% year on year.
“We’re proving there is enormous demand for soft drinks made with simple ingredients, no sugar, no sweeteners, and no compromise,” Wright said.
“We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, but it still feels like we’re only just getting started.”
