Kiril Mischeff has continued its run of acquisitions with the takeover of Minster Fine Foods to strengthen its growing portfolio.
Minster is a continental food importer, supplying a range of delicatessen meat products from Europe to multiple retailers, wholesalers, foodservice providers and the industrial food sector.
Founded in Minster on the Isle of Sheppey in 1993, the company is now based in the South Lincolnshire market town of Bourne, where it employs six staff.
It is the third deal in as many years for Kiril, following the acquisition of Kent-based Good Food Wines, an importer, blender and packager of a range of alcoholic beverages, vinegars and condiments, in 2023, and Italian food imports specialist Annessa Imports last year.
“Minster offers a vast range of food products for retail, manufacturing and foodservice, with an emphasis on continental deli meats, and we believe the team and their high standards will compliment and align with the work we do at Kiril Mischeff,” said managing director Dimiter Mirchev.
“We look forward to collaborating with the team and driving future success together.”
Minster MD Ellyot Doyle added: “Minster Fine Foods has built its reputation on quality, integrity and great relationships across retail, wholesale and foodservice. Becoming part of a larger organisation gives us the platform to accelerate our growth and enhance the solutions we can offer our customers.”
The Nottinghamshire food and ingredients importer was founded in the UK in 1935 by Kiril Mischeff, who imported canned Fruit and vegetables from processors in his native Bulgaria.
It expanded in the 1960s under Robin Mischeff with a string of acquisitions and in 2005 underwent an MBO.
Today, the business generates turnover of almost £200m a year and employs around 80 staff.
Yorkshire-based commercial law firm Schofield Sweeney advised Kiril on the Minster deal, while the vendor was supported by Peterborough-based law firm Hegarty Solicitors and accountancy firm Price Bailey.
