Lidl has hit back at Aldi in the battle to offer the best-value Christmas dinner, dropping its price by 10p to match its rival.
It means both discounters are promising a festive feast for eight for £11.75, or £1.47 per person.
Both deals consist of a 3.05kg whole fresh turkey for £9 (£2.95 per kg), own-label Yorkshire puddings (15-pack, 46p) stuffing mix (90p, two packs), and gravy granules (99p, 300g), plus four varieties of veg – potatoes (2kg), sprouts (500g), carrots (1kg) and parsnips (500g) – for 8p each.
Lidl was the first to announce its 2025 value Christmas dinner deal, on 24 November. With the gravy granules then priced at £1.09 rather than 99p, the cost of the whole feast was 10p more at £11.85.
Aldi matched Lidl’s offer product for product on 4 December, but then dropped its gravy granules by 10p on 9 December.
Lidl’s latest move means the two are now matching once again.

“Over the last 30 years, we’ve promised to deliver the best prices for your weekly shop and your Christmas celebrations,” Lidl GB CEO Ryan McDonnell wrote in an email to customers last week. “This year is no different, and we won’t be beaten on price.”
Aldi UK & Ireland CEO Giles Hurley has also vowed not to be beaten on price. “I do think this year household bills are a challenge and customers are looking at their spend,” Hurley told The Grocer last week. “That’s why it’s so important that I guarantee Aldi will have the lowest prices in the market for your festive meal.”
Both discounters’ Christmas dinner deals will be in stores from 19-24 December.
