KP Snacks has taken McCoy’s core crisps flavours into nuts.
Flame Grilled Steak and Salt & Malt Vinegar coated peanuts (rsp: £2.75/155g) promise “the big flavour, big texture and big crunch that the brand is famous for”, in its first extension beyond crisps.
Packs will feature a “KP” stamp to indicate “the great taste and quality of the peanuts inside”, the manufacturer said.
They will hit Tesco, Asda and Morrisons shelves in mid-March, ahead of a wider rollout.
“Launching McCoy’s coated nuts is a major milestone for the brand,” said McCoy’s senior brand manager Beth George.
“These two new products are perfectly positioned to disrupt the category and excite shoppers, bringing new consumers into the coated nuts segment with the bold appeal of McCoy’s signature flavours and the trusted quality of KP Nuts,” George added.
The launch will be supported by a “high-impact” campaign, including POS materials.
McCoy’s isn’t the first crisps brand to take its popular flavours into the coated nuts category.
In July, PepsiCo unveiled That’s Nuts, featuring coated peanuts inspired by the flavours of Walkers Salt & Vinegar, Walkers Smoky Bacon, Doritos Chilli Heatwave, Doritos Flamin’ Hot, Wotsits Really Cheesy and Walkers Max Paprika crisps.
Speaking at the time, PepsiCo marketing strategy & operations senior manager Ed Orr-Ewing predicted flavoured nuts would be “worth over £200m in retail by 2030”.
