Spine-Chillin’ Cherry made its debut in 2024

McVitie’s has revived its Jaffaween cake bars for a fourth year.

Fang-Tastic Orange, which first launched in 2022, features the same light sponge and tangy jelly centre of classic Jaffa Cake bars, coated in a layer of rich dark chocolate.

Meanwhile, Spine-Chillin’ Cherry has returned for a second year, following its debut in 2024. It features a cherry-flavoured jelly in place of the traditional orange centre.

Both variants (rsp: £1.50/five) have rolled into major retailers, “perfectly timed for trick or treaters” and shoppers seeking seasonal snacks over Halloween, according to McVitie’s.

“Our Jaffaween Cake Bars have always been a spooky season favourite, so we’re thrilled to bring them back for 2025,” said McVitie’s marketing director James King.

“Halloween is such a fun time for families and friends alike, and these Jaffaween Cake Bars are the perfect way to add some extra Jaffa magic to the snack cupboard,” King added.

McVitie’s launched limited-edition Hot Honey and Yuzu Lemon variants for Jaffa Cakes in June and August, respectively. It hoped the innovations would lure young, foodie shoppers to the brand.

Over summer, it extended the brand into ice cream, launching a Jaffa Cakes McFlurry in collaboration with McDonald’s in July, followed by handheld Jaffa Cake Triple Dipped Sticks, which hit Iceland in August.
