The Gym Kitchen has expanded its High Protein ready meals range with lines for one and two people across frozen and chilled.
The frozen options are available now from Tesco in a new ‘pan-cook from frozen’ format. Mac & Cheese, Chicken Pesto (rsp: £4.50/700g) and BBQ Chicken Pasta (rsp: £2.75/400g) can be cooked on a hob within 15 minutes, with no need for defrosting.
The larger meals provide 64g of protein per pack, while the smaller features 33g.
The Gym Kitchen’s latest chilled options will roll into Sainsbury’s from today (16 September). Thai Red Chicken Curry and Sweet Chilli Chicken Noodles (rsp: £4/400g) had been created to tap the trends for takeaway-style meals and globally inspired flavour fusions, said the brand.
The Thai curry delivers 30g of protein and 6g of fibre per pack, while the chicken noodles provide 37g of protein and 6.4g of fibre. The new meals also boast all green traffic lights for fat, satfat, sugar and salt.
“Bringing exciting new flavours and formats to functional food is something we’re proud to lead from the front on at The Gym Kitchen,” said founder Segun Akinwoleola. “We’re excited to expand our footprint across multiple retailers and channels.”
The new frozen meals delivered “ultimate convenience and introduce a more versatile traditional cooking element vs conventional heat-and-eat meals”, he added.
“We’re delighted to launch our new chilled meals. Our community has been requesting these dishes for a while, so it felt right to bring them to Sainsbury’s this way.”
The NPD follows the debut earlier this month of The Gym Kitchen High Protein Paprika Wedges – which the brand claimed as a first-to-market launch.
Earlier this year, The Gym Kitchen added High Protein Lean Pork Sausages, High Protein Chicken Nuggets, and the four-strong Ready-To-Eat Meats lineup comprising Tikka Shredded Chicken, BBQ Shredded Chicken, Hot Honey Ham and Chicken & Chorizo Meatballs.
