Siggi’s, the Icelandic skyr brand, has launched into the UK market with a listing in Morrisons.

The range is made using traditional Icelandic skyr methods to deliver a “thick, creamy texture with a simple ingredient list”.

The brand said it offered 50% more protein and 30% less sugar than other yoghurts.

The launch introduces two natural 450g pots (rsp: £3.25) in 0% fat and 5% fat, which are high in protein with no added sugar.

It also includes less-sugar multipacks in Strawberry and Mango & Passionfruit (rsp: £2.50/2x140g) which are also high in protein and sweetened with fruit and cane sugar.

“Launching into Morrisons marks an important step for Siggi’s as we bring our Icelandic-style skyr to UK shoppers,” said Lise Chevallier, senior brand manager at Siggi’s. “With its thick, creamy texture and focus on simple recipes, the range offers a clear point of difference within the category.

“As demand grows for clean, artificial‑free high protein, Siggi’s stands out as the perfect skyr yogurt, offering a delicious range of both natural and fruited skyr variants, that meets exactly what consumers are looking for today.”

The brand was founded by Siggi Hilmarsson, who had a desire to recreate the skyr he grew up eating in Iceland after moving to the US and finding the yoghurts there too sweet.
