Waitrose has issued an urgent recall of one of its own-label Indian curry ready meals for two, after spring rolls were unintentionally added to some packs instead of onion bhajis, leading to the presence of undeclared allergens.
Some products in a single batch of its Waitrose Indian Takeaway Box for Two were “mispacked” with spring rolls, which contain sesame and soya, allergens not declared on the pack, according to an FSA allergy alert.
The precautionary recall only applies to the products with the batch number 934837 and a use by date of 25 July 2025. No other Waitrose products are affected, the retailer said. The presence of the undeclared allergens could pose a risk to anyone with an allergy to either soya or sesame, the FSA said.
Customers have been advised not to consume the product and return it to their nearest Waitrose branch for a refund.
“We’re recalling this product as a precaution, after spring rolls were included in the box, instead of onion bhajis,” a Waitrose spokesman said.
“As such, there is an undisclosed presence of soya and sesame. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and are offering customers a full refund.”

It is standard practice for supermarkets and suppliers to recall products due to manufacturing concerns.
Last month, Waitrose was among a number of supermarkets to issue recalls for eight SKUs of Pieminister meat and veg pies marked with incorrect use by dates.
In December, it recalled batches of its exclusive Zoe Daily30+ 7 products over concerns they may contain small stones and traces of metal.
