What was your first job? It was in a traditional grocer in Thurso where I grew up. I loved it - I did everything from slicing bacon for local shoppers to delivering groceries to fishing boats.
What’s been your worst job interview? I’m lucky not to have had a particularly bad interview - I did however admit to liking country music (guilty pleasure) to my line manager at interview and I’ve been teased a few times since!
What was the first music single you bought? Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi by Kylie Minogue.
How do you describe your job to your mates? I make whisky.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Seeing something develop from a ‘bench-top blend’ to being on the shelf/back bar.
What is the least rewarding part? Doing expenses - I’m often late.
What is your motto in life? Be the reason someone smiles today.
If you were allowed one dream perk, what would it be? An Aston Martin company car.
Do you have any phobias? Germs - I’m very OCD when it comes to cleanliness and hygiene.
If you could change one thing in grocery, what would it be? I’d reform the excise system so scotch is taxed at the same rate as beer and wine - we should support our spirits industry.
What luxury would you have on a desert island? Photographs - I love looking back and reminiscing.
What animal most reflects your personality? A grouse, of course!
What’s your favourite film and why? Every Christmas I watch Love, Actually. I never tire of it. It’s funny, sentimental, romantic and emotional.
What has been the most embarrassing moment in your life? My entire teenage years - the 1990s was all shellsuits, baggy jeans and wearing your big brother’s shirts.
Which celebrity would you most like to work with and why? Gordon Ramsay - he has had such an interesting and varied career, from footballer to hugely successful chef to TV personality. Also, being a proud Scot I’m sure that he would be a fan of whisky and keen to learn more.
What would your death row meal be? Christmas dinner - I usually eat two and skip dessert.
