Leading Greek food importer and distributor Odysea has collaborated with Waitrose to launch Odysea x Waitrose No.1 Greek Sheep’s Milk Feta.
The feta (rsp: £3.50/200g) has been made through traditional methods in Thessaly – a region in Greece which the brands said was renowned for the diversity of its grasses and wild herbs, which added to the feta’s flavour.
Made only with sheep milk, Odysea said the feta had a “creamier texture and a milder, richer flavour than feta containing goats milk”.
“By working closely with Odysea, we’ve sourced a truly exceptional cheese that honours traditional Greek feta-making methods,” added Waitrose cheese buyer Sarah Miness. “It’s all about providing that genuine, regional flavour that our shoppers look for – turning a simple salad or mezze board into a true taste of the Mediterranean.”
It comes as searches for the cheese on Waitrose’s website have jumped 75% compared with the same time last year. Searches of ‘feta recipes’ have also increased tenfold over the same period.
“Having partnered with Waitrose for over a decade, this launch marks an exciting next step and one that reflects our dedication to providing authentic and premium Greek foods to UK food lovers,” said Odysea founder Panos Manuelides.

It comes as Odysea has also expanded its Real Greek Cow’s Milk Yoghurt (10% fat) into Sainsbury’s.
Made in Greece using Greek cows milk with live cultures, Odysea described the yoghurt (£2.75/500g) as “thick, luxuriously creamy, high in protein and a source of calcium”.
Available now, the move follows the introduction of Odysea Greek yoghurt SKUs into Whole Foods Market in 2024.
“This yoghurt delivers authentic Greek flavour and a satisfying mouthfeel, perfect for cooking or enjoying on its own,” the company said.
