Doritos looks set to launch a snacking product called Scoops.
Owner PepsiCo has applied to register ‘Doritos Scoops’ as a trademark with the Intellectual Property Office under classes 29 and 30, covering crisps and corn chips.
While PepsiCo had not responded to requests for comment by the time of writing, the activity could point to the manufacturer bringing a product similar to Tostitos Scoops to the UK.
Tortilla chip brand Tostitos made its US debut in 1981, launching tortilla chips nationwide in Traditional and Nacho Cheese variants.
In 2001, it launched Tostitos Scoops, a curved chip it claims can hold an extra heaped teaspoon of dip or salsa.
PepsiCo applied to register the logo for Tostitos Scoops as a trademark with the IPO this summer.
The activity comes after PepsiCo rolled out a non-HFSS recipe across its Doritos portfolio at the end of last year.
In February, it hid square-shaped chips inside 100 Chilli Heatwave 180g promotional packs in partnership with A Minecraft Movie, offering shoppers that found them cash prizes of up to £10k. Doritos also introduced Zingy Vinegar Blast and BBQ Sweet Tang variants as part of the promotion.
Also in February, PepsiCo brought its rolled tortilla chip Doritos spin-off Dinamita to UK convenience stores to meet shoppers’ growing appetite for spicy snacks.
In October, Doritos unveiled a limited-edition Gingerbread variant for Christmas 2025.
Meanwhile, PepsiCo appears to be readying a relaunch of its Walkers core crisps range, along with Walkers Baked and Sun Bites; it has applied to register new-look logos featuring the text ‘Walkers’, ‘Walkers Oven Baked’ and ‘S.U.N’ with the IPO.
