Waitrose has opened a new Little Waitrose in Wandsworth as part of a multimillion-pound investment programme in London.
The 2,500 sq ft store opened this week in the New Acres area and forms part of a new neighbourhood housing development.
Waitrose recently completed refurbishments at its stores in Marylebone and Clerkenwell, while it also has plans to refresh convenience stores in Crouch End and Old Brompton Road as well as its supermarket in Coulsdon before the end of the year.
The Wandsworth opening has created 26 new jobs, and there are further refurbs scheduled in the capital for the first quarter of 2026.
“From our roots in Acton where we opened our very first shop, to Streatham which saw our first supermarket, and now our newest convenience shop in Wandsworth, London has always been home to Waitrose and central to our success,” said Waitrose interim MD Tina Mitchell.
“As we open our 62nd store in the capital, we’re committing to investing millions to expand and refresh our portfolio. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and by continually listening to what our customers want and need, and we are well positioned for future growth in London and across the UK.”
The recent refurbs feature some of the retailer’s latest thinking in terms of ranging and store design. This includes a new-look bakery and improved fruit & veg section, more efficient refrigeration, and a combination of self-service and staffed checkouts. They also all sell a range of John Lewis gifts and homeware.
Waitrose Marylebone also has enhanced meat and fish counters, as well as a dedicated dry-aged beef counter and an updated wine selection with chilled white wine and champagne.
