Biona has added a trio of jarred ready meals made with beans.
Inspired by world cuisines, the range spans Bean Chilli Mexican Style, Chickpea Coconut Curry Indian Style, and Chickpea Tagine Moroccan Style (all rsp: £3.49/350g).
Each is high in fibre and a source of plant protein (up to 18g per jar), with no added sugar, preservatives or artificial additives.
The range would cater to flexitarians, plant-curious consumers and busy families looking for quick, satisfying meat-free meals, said Biona.
“We’re hugely excited to enter the ready meal category with this new range of world bean meals and believe it’s a great time to do so, as many consumers are now looking for healthier and non-processed quick-cook options,” said Carmen Ferguson, brand manager at Biona’s parent company Windmill Organics.
It comes after value sales of branded ambient ready meals rocketed 23.9% on volumes up 13% in the year to 6 September 2025, according to NIQ data.
The launch builds on the momentum of a nationwide campaign calling for greater integration of beans into everyday diets.
In September, The Food Foundation and Veg Power launched their Bang in Some Beans campaign. Backed by almost £1.4m in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the push aims to encourage people to eat more beans, lentils and pulses.
Retailers including Sainsbury’s, Ocado, Waitrose and Lidl have backed the push, alongside celebrity chefs Jamie Oliver, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Tom Kerridge.
