@Brandon, I was wondering the same thing about the control group.

"...developed mammary tumours and severe liver and kidney damage as early as four months in males, and seven months for females, compared with 23 and 14 months respectively for a control group."

So the control group developed mammary tumours and severe liver and kidney damage between 14 & 23 months - so between middle age to end of life.

Why are these rats in the control developing tumours? Were all the rats used for this experiment genetically prone to developing tumours in the first place?
