Supermarkets are trialling a sales-based replenishment system for magazines. British Retail Consortium deputy director general Mark Bradshaw said the project allowed retailers to automatically replace stocks when low. He said Menzies, WH Smith News Distribution, Surridge Dawson and Chester Wholesale News had signed up to the scheme. Trials are running in Stockton and Stockport and retail participants include Sainsbury, Asda and Tesco. Londis and Bells are expected to join soon. An Asda spokeswoman said the chain would consider adopting the system across the UK if it proved successful. Bradshaw said National Federation of Retail Newsagents members could join if they were in the right regions and had EPoS capability. {{NEWS }}
