Home Bargains

TJ Morris, which trades as Home Bargains, has introduced new purchase tracking software across its estate in a bid to improve its supply chain.

The VBX Store Replenishment software, developed by 3X Software and Verbatrans, works by recording all transactions made across the discount chain’s 320 stores in real time and then creating store replenishment orders.

It also takes into account products that have gone out of stock, and predicts what a store could have sold if the stock had been available.

The technology would give TJ Morris, which has also upgraded its servers to utilise the software, an advantage over its rivals, a spokesman said.

“Real-time information on sales helps our buyers take a more proactive approach to purchasing, and puts them in a much stronger position for making good deals with suppliers,” he added.

“This means they can seize discounts before competitors, or back off on a deal when the demand is not there, which ultimately helps us keep stores stocked with products that customers want to buy, and at prices that other retailers often struggle to match.”
