Scotch food producers played a key role in last week's Royal Wedding, with both Scotch beef and salmon on the menu at Wills and Kate's lunch and dinner receptions.

Mey Selections' roast fillet of Scotch beef, which is sourced from within 100 miles of the Castle of Mey, was served in miniature Yorkshire puddings to 650 guests at the lunch reception. Fresh salmon, farmed off the island of South Uist by producer Loch Duart, was served at the Buckingham Palace dinner event in the evening.

Danny Miller, chairman of North Highland Products, which developed the Mey Selections brand said: "It's a fantastic tribute to our hardworking producers in the Highlands that Scotch beef had pride of place on the menu."

Echoing his comment, Loch Duart MD Nick Joy described the inclusion of the company's salmon on the evening menu as "a massive landmark".
