The CWS has announced the closure of another unprofitable superstore at Baglan Moor, Port Talbot, after failing to find a suitable buyer. Although the organisation will try and redeploy staff from the store, 40 full-time and 40 part-time employees will lose their jobs. The society announced plans to sell its underperforming superstores last summer to free up cash to invest in more profitable smaller stores formats, Market Town and Welcome. A spokeswoman said the new formats had been "well received by customers". The society is on target to rebrand all the convenience stores in its portfolio to the Welcome format by the end of the year. The Market Town rebranding is on course for completion by 2002. Of the 16 superstores put on the market last year, five have been sold and four have now closed. A decision has yet to be made on the rest. There are "no immediate plans" to sell the remaining superstores in the portfolio, some of which may be converted to the Market Town format. {{NEWS }}
