Gü Chocolate Puds won The Grocer Food & Drink Exporter of the Year award at the last ever Food From Britain Export Awards.

The premium dessert manufacturer received the award at London's Landmark Hotel, along with the New Exporter of the Year accolade for its success in developing the brand in France, where it has a turnover of £10m.

"We're really chuffed -it's been a fantastic two years," said Gü France MD Fiona Fitzpatrick. "It's the highest accolade, particularly because of its association with The Grocer. We have a very young, dynamic team, and it's 100% down to their hard work.

"We still have massive opportunities in France. We think we can triple our turnover there in the next three years."

The Large Food Exporter of the Year award went to lamb supplier Randall Parker Foods. "It's our first year in these awards, so to win is fantastic," said sales manager Andy Woods.

The Drink Exporter of the Year award went to Britvic, for its work supplying squash to Scandanavia, SME Food Exporter of the Year was won by salmon supplier Gourmet's Choice, while the Innovation in Export award was picked up by soft drink supplier Mangajo and cereal bar brand Eat Natural took the Exhibitor of the Year title.

Other winners included the Hurns Brewing Company, which won New Welsh Exporter of the Year, health food supplier Linwoods Foods, which took the New Northern Irish Exporter of the Year, and Speyside Glenlivet Water Compan, which was named New Scottish Exporter of the Year.

With FFB closing its doors in March 2009, members received a boost at the event, when FFB client development account manager John Whitehead launched a Food and Drink Exporters Association to take over the FFB's representation of UK businesses.

Funded by a "modest" membership fee, he hopes to support exporters and represent members at a government level.
