to poor stocking by multiples Simon Mowbray German detergents giant Henkel is abandoning advertising support for its Glist 3 in 1 dishwasher tablets in the UK  because the major multiples are not stocking the brand. The second burst of a TV campaign starring acclaimed British actress Julie Walters was due on screens now. A third run of the ad had also been scheduled for Christmas as part of £6m of support this year. But the company said it had decided to pull the plug on both follow-up phases to the initial spring campaign because Britain's biggest retailers were still not stocking the brand. It said the ads will only return when the likes of Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury start listing it. "As soon as we get the listings we are ready to go again with the advertising," said Carole Armstrong-Hooper, Henkel's marketing director. "We have been very disappointed by the reaction we have had in the UK because we believe there is a real opportunity there that people are missing out on. "If we didn't believe that then we would not have spent so much money backing the product and recruiting someone like Julie Walters to star in our advert." She said the product had been well received by those retailers stocking Glist, including Waitrose, some Co-op stores and Superdrug, as well as a number of C&Cs. The company's ultimate aim is to steal a march on rival Reckitt Benckiser which leads the market by some margin with its Finish brand. {{P&P }}
