Smartertrader has pumped £750,000 into a new suite of products it claims will revolutionise the wholesale market.

The company was set up in 2002 by Landmark executives Mike McGee and Ron Colley to manage Landmark’s IT systems on an outsourced basis and develop products for other companies.

The modular Jigsaw suite offers wholesalers a package of products, from warehouse management and data-crunching software to online ordering systems, handheld terminals and checkouts, said McGee. “While many larger wholesalers are using advanced technology, many smaller ones are behind the times; they don’t have the resources to recruit dedicated IT professionals.

“We can help them analyse their data, find out what their customers are doing, track what their supplier service levels are and better manage their stock.”

Text messaging was a particularly useful way for wholesalers to communicate with key customers, said McGee.
