subway wraps

If the tortuous inquisition you face when you try to order a sandwich at Subway isn’t painful enough, the common man’s Pret has added wraps to its menu.

But how to promote them? If only there was a musical genre that sounded like ‘wrap’ that could be appropriated, filmed, and uploaded to YouTube in clip form?

That’s right, folks. Subway invited ‘lyrical geniuses’ Tommy B, Lady Sanity and MysDiggi to create short tracks to celebrate the launch of the wraps. The trio then showed up in a store to freestyle orders (sample lyric: “please don’t’ be shy with the American cheese / I’m from the UK but I love it indeed”) to the amusement/bemusement of queueing customers.

Behind the counter was ‘honorary sandwich artist’ TrueMendous, who responded in kind, noting “you can rap, it’s just that Subway can wrap better”. Word.
