Milkshake brand Yazoo is venturing into yoghurt drinks with new brand extension Yazoo Yogo.

The first flavour, Summer Berry, is made from strawberries and raspberries and will be available next month in single 500g bottles (52p) and packs of four 200g bottles (rsp: £1.09).

The move into a yoghurt line is the result of growing consumer demand for healthier drink options, according to Campina, the brand owner.

"Our research shows there is great potential for a new long-life yoghurt drink in a growing market currently dominated by short-life products," said Alan Prior, sales and marketing director, Campina.

"As the market leader in long-life milkshakes, we invest substantially in ­sustainable innovation

and will continue to push the boundaries in milk shakes and yoghurt drinks," he said.

The new launch will be supported by marketing activity as part of a £3.5m spend for the Yazoo brand this year.
