I like the packaging of these potato wedges and think that the idea of launching them as a snack, rather than as a meal accompaniment, with the strapline ‘Great for Sharing’, is a clever idea.

When I tasted the product, I was not disappointed. Both the flavours I tried delivered on taste and although they were quite filling, they were very ‘moreish’ and not too greasy as some other brands I have tried before.

I would buy these again and think they are perfect for an evening in with the girls, served with beer or wine as well as other snacks.
They would also be suitable for filling up on before a night on the tiles. However, I would not eat them on a regular basis as they are not very good for you health-wise.

Buyer's verdict

Jonathon Bayne, Technical Development Controller, Budgens
The packaging is very eye-catching and of a very high standard, particularly the quality of the photographs of the actual products.

The two varieties that I was sent, Four Cheese & Red Onion and Crusted Garlic & Herb, were in some respects not your typical mainstream flavours that you see on other similar products.

Tastewise, both the variants were of excellent quality and a very enjoyable eat.

This is a market that consumers participate in, and coupled with the established name of Chicago Town, they should go down well with the consumers, either as a starter with a suitable dip, or as an accompaniment to a main meal.

Overall, an excellent range that will generate repeat purchases, and the pricing is spot on.
