Branston appoints new managing director Jim Windle

Potato giant Branston has appointed Jim Windle as managing director, replacing James Truscott.

Windle has been promoted from financial director, a role he has held since 2015. He brings more than 20 years of experience to his new role, almost eight of which have been spent at Branston.

He will be working with Truscott over the coming six months to ensure a smooth transition period. Truscott will be taking the role of group managing director for this period before exiting the business.

Windle was “thrilled and proud to be taking the Branston business forward and cannot wait to get started” he said. “We have an exciting plan and a strong team to deliver it.”

His promotion comes as Branston is investing in a factory to extract protein fraction from outgrade potatoes – a project in partnership with sister companies B-hive Innovations and Root Extracts, both of which focus on agritech.

“We are constantly looking at new ways we can adapt and ensure our entire supply chain from field to shelf edge is managed in a sustainable and responsible way,” Windle said.

“The current climate is uncertain for many businesses in the UK across almost every sector, but we are very well placed to drive our position forwards as experts in our broader sector, not just as potato suppliers.”
